General information
Family Action Board (FAB) is a Family Support Group at the Agency. Anyone connected to the Agency can be a part of the group...any branch of service, any rank, male, female, civilians or contractors.
FAB has social groups, such as our Out to Lunch Bunch (OTLB), where we meet every second Tuesday of the month at a designated restaurant. Besides the OTLB, we are working on other groups as interest grows, such as a book club, mom's group, scrap booking, etc.
A fun activity that FAB does every few months is make cookies, and every October we make caramel apples, for those working at the Agency or attending classes prior to deployment. It is a nice surprise to the folks with a treat and a pat on the back. With the treat is attached our information, so that the member can pass it along to the family so that they know of our support and can join and gt involved with the group.
We also we host an event called “Tea and Tour” which is a great way for spouses to meet others and get a tour of the Agency. We meet at the Cryptological Museum (outside the gates), mingle over tea and a light breakfast, and then go over for a nice tour of the Agency before going back to the museum for lunch and announcements.
Another event we are involved in is called Family Battle Rhythms, which is basically an Open House at the Agency. FAB has an information table at this event, food is free and children are most definitely welcomed. Family members need to be registered for that so we always encourage our members to watch for the announcement as to when the next event happens.
We have meetings every other month and anyone can attend them. FAB announces these meeting through email and the FAB Yahoo group. When you see the announcement, let us know if you can attend and we will let you know the specifics (when and where).
If the member gets too busy and forgets to tell the spouse/family members about all these things, the spouse/family member can find out about them by being a part of our Yahoo group. All that is needed to do that is to allow us to pass your email address to our Membership chair so that they can reach you by email with an invite to join the group. Once you accept the invite, you will be part of the FAB Yahoo group. We share all this type of information on the group such as good hairdressers in the area, where to find furniture, information on childcare, adult care, finances and more. The Yahoo group is a secure site so only those connected with the group and the Agency are allowed on. If that's the only involvement you want with the group, that's fine too. The Yahoo group is FABs most important asset, where we can reach out and help people and share lots of information. FAB is only able to post a limited amount of information on our site, through mail and within the Yahoo group due to operations security (OPSEC).
Besides the social groups and gatherings, FAB members are also there to help families when the need arises, whether it is someone sick, the arrival of a new child or any type of emergency, we will help with meals, babysitting or whatever the need calls for.
