While a spouse is away....

During our recent Family Battles Rhythms event, families were able to share thoughts, ideas, and suggestions for dealing with situations while a spouse is serving away from home.  Many issues revolved around our children and the need for assistance.  Some of the issues and suggestions are listed below:

One mom was looking for childcare so she could have a night out with friends.

Suggestion: Contact local Child/Youth Services about their hourly daycare program.

One mom was looking for suggestions to help her child remember his dad’s voice while he is away.

Suggestion: Have ‘Dad’ record his voice, perhaps read a few stories, on a videotape, then play it back to the child while he is away.

Another family felt very strongly that Agency managers should make an effort to keep families informed and to check in on them from time-to-time.

Suggestion: Contact a FAB member so that this can be brought up at next meeting with Agency Senior Leadership.

Frustration over repairs for base housing was expressed.

Suggestion: Have a FAB member assist with this effort.

Families shared a need for help with housekeeping, shopping or babysitting.

Suggestion: Contact a FAB member for assistance.
